Why I Became A Financial Advisor (Andrew)

By Andrew Peterson

When it came time for me to pursue a career path, I had a few criteria that I wanted it to meet. I wanted a job that kept me on my toes, not allowing me to become complacent or stop growing in knowledge and experience. Namely, I wanted a challenge. Since I had always been interested in the financial world, the role of financial advisor ticked all the boxes, and more.

Getting Started

While working toward my bachelor’s degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, I had the opportunity to do summer work at Peterson Wealth Management as an administrative assistant. This allowed me to get my feet wet in the financial world and showed me the inner workings of a financial advisory firm and the significant impact that objective and caring financial advice can make.

When I graduated, I decided to continue my hockey career and played five years of professional hockey in Sweden. When I returned to the U.S., I dove right into pursuing finance and became a financial advisor, joining Peterson Wealth Management full-time.

My Career Today

Now, as an investment advisor representative, I get to experience a career that allows me to grow while also helping people reach their goals. And in order to make a difference in peoples’ lives in my particular role, it takes constant research, an open mind, and a willingness to learn—all things I was originally looking for in a career! That includes getting to know my clients, understanding their dreams and challenges so I can help them navigate whatever comes their way, and staying on top of dynamic markets so my clients have the best chance to get to the finish line successfully.

I love interacting with my clients and building strong relationships that give us a solid foundation to build a tailored investment strategy. It’s my privilege to act as a financial quarterback, helping clients manage the many moving parts of their financial life so they can rest assured knowing that nothing is slipping through the cracks. Every day brings something new and different, but the best days are when I can celebrate with a client when they reach a milestone or see the relief on their faces when they realize they are no longer alone on this journey.

Take The Next Step

I am always open to meet new people and see how I may be able to help.
